Introduction

We wanted to create a fun experience for friends and family while they travel through India with the help of an Augmented Reality mobile application using Vuforia Software Development Kit (SDK) and Unity 3D game engine for 3D visualization

The user can scan a monument or tourist spot and leave messages for friends to find and enjoy. The receiver can only view the message when they visit the tourist spot and scans the view. Users can also read the history of the tourist spots, find places nearby places to visit and get ratings from past visitors.

The idea draws inspiration from the popular game 'Pokemon Go' where one searched for Pokemons nearby.

Wireframes

Designed wireframes for users to scan the monument and locate messages, share messages with the option of displaying the message publicly or privately, read historical information about the tourist spot or monument and share experiences with their friends and family.

Prototype with 3D Multiple Image Target

As a classroom prototype, we created an Image Target in the shape of a cube with images of famous tourist spots and attractions in ‘MUMBAI’ and let the users explore the application.

Additional applications could include fun indoor games, treasure hunt activities, and outdoor experiences to enhance general knowledge about historical places through a gamified adventure.
